Keeping the Right Perspective
Is the lens you are looking through serving your highest good?

It’s easy to get focused on all the things going wrong in life.
For example, what we don’t have in our life, but we want, and the thorny obstacles we are confronted with on the daily.
Did you know that we have 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts a day and it’s human nature to live in a headspace of ‘default thinking?’
Yes, AND the negative pieces of life that abrasively rub us raw and the thoughts that run rampid between our ears need to be calmed down at the very least.
It’s our job to overcome this messy conflict that most humans don’t like and retrain our brains and our mindset to be in a space of…
open mind,
open heart,
and turn the dial down on those negative haunting thoughts,
while turning the dial up on what we are grateful for.
If we are not consciously awake to what’s happening in the moment, we can easily lose our sight of all the wondrous treasures right in front of us.
We can get so stressed out and busy
we forget to pause and take a moment to reflect on our blessings.
Our life can feel mundane and routine to the point of doing the same tasks, going to the same places and coming home only to watch TV, go to bed and do the same thing over again the next day.
All because we forget to live.
We forget to stop long enough to see what is right in front of us.
The beautiful flowering plants in the corner of the office, the child and mother walking hand in hand with smiles on their faces, the amazing aroma coming from a pop up outside our window, the soft green grass where we can take our shoes off for five minutes and experience the effect of grounding our bodies.
Instead of living a life of routine, what if you did something different? #dsd
We can shake up our day and #dsd with a simple practice of gratitude ~ this is a fresh way to begin each day with a new perspective on life.
When I wake up in the morning, I’m intentional about noticing my surroundings, what makes me smile and feel good. I wander out to my porch deck in my bare feet to feel the cold air, breathe in greatness and love for the day and pinch myself because I have an amazing view of the foothills to be grateful for.
I notice what lights me up and immediately, I can become grateful for that thing. A warm shower, a comfortable bed, and a roof over my head.
One of my early morning habits is journaling and on those pages I write three things I am grateful for. Getting yourself a gratitude journal is a simple but profound act to feel alive, elevate your vibration and to start the day off feeling relaxed and at ease. (of course you have to write in it)
You can write whatever you want in your ‘book of life’ and not worry that anyone else will read it.
Even writing down or speaking out loud the very simple things that bring you joy like your family, a warm cup of tea, or your loving partner is a great way to begin your gratitude practice.
For even more benefit, challenge yourself to get really specific about what you are grateful for. Go deep.
What are those big breakthroughs you’ve had recently that elevated you in some magical way? That opened doors you didn’t even know were there!
What about those hugs, smiles and helping hands that got you through some tough times?
Always remember to ‘look back’ and give thanks for how far you’ve come.
At the same time, I remind myself to not dwell on the past as to not interfere with my future. I’m not going in that direction ~ I’m moving forward.
Good things are always coming our way, and we will see them if we keep our eyes wide open.
Here’s the key. If we are constantly complaining about how things are,
or
what we don’t have,
the universe will give you MORE of that…
Instead, turn your thoughts over to this mantra
“If I complain, I get more of the same.
When I praise, life will be raised!’
